In the heart of Alto Alentejo, near Portalegre (Portugal), on the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede, a unique and captivating musical project was born – MIRANDA. The alter ego of musician and producer João P. Miranda, MIRANDA establishes itself as the Portuguese project of Cinematic Pop.

All of MIRANDA’s music is created and takes shape in João’s studio retreat – the Attack Release Studio – set in the midst of nature, surrounded by cypress and Nordic pine trees.

MIRANDA is an unapologetically DIY and personal project. João composes, writes the lyrics, plays all the instruments, and takes care of the entire production, recording, mixing, and mastering in his studio – a true private sound laboratory. In addition, he films, edits, and directs his own music videos, expanding the project into the visual realm as well.

Although it is a one-man project in the studio, MIRANDA gains different voices through collaborations. On the first album, João invited three female singers to interpret the songs, with the beautiful and talented Rita Rice giving voice to the album’s lead single.

This single, “A New Beginning”, inhabits a territory that is dark yet hopeful: introspective verses contrast with open and luminous choruses, where the grand orchestration intensifies the emotion and points toward the possibility of renewal. The lyrics speak of the power of love that withstands division, proposing unity as a way to “rewrite destiny.” More than a personal narrative, “A New Beginning” asserts itself as a figure of style for the times we live in, reflecting a world marked by wars, hunger, inequalities, and social fragmentation, but also by the urgent need to believe in a shared future and in the human capacity to begin again.
