THE MUSIC
“What started to be a Doodle around Bo Diddley’s groove, became a song far more developed than I expected. I wanted to take this iconic Blues rhythm, that did the crossover to POP music in the 80’s, and bring it back to life, after I realised that we don’t often see it played in live shows anymore. The lyrics wrote themselves as if I was sketching a doodle (therefore: the name of the song), while I was thinking about irracional behaviours (such as War, Idolatry, Loveless human relations) that still endure nowadays, in a emotionally under developed society.
By gathering to drummers, it allowed me and Alexandre Frazão to break the Bo Diddley pattern now and them, making this “weird trip around blues rhythms” somehow interesting.

THE VIDEO
After a lot of time pondering about this video, I decided to call OCRE (creative couple) to finish the ideia for this video. I wanted to present the "Nico Drums & Blues" concept side by side with a metaphor that could illustrate both "battle" as "good sportsmanship” in the end of things.So we came to the ideia of a Boxing Court, were two opponents show there best, always with respect for one another.
We filmed the hole video on the great ZÉ FORTES Academy (Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal), one of the best Muay Thai trainer in Portugal, with a super academy and high mentality!We also created GULA, the female “poster girl” character that, instead of perpetuating the male chauvinism showing “a hot girl with a poster”, decided to break the chains and protest about important human social fights (Feminism, LGBT+ rights, No to War/guns, Yes to Peace).
