The song tells the story of a traumatic relationship with a sociopath who uses gaslighting, ghosting and the unverifiable promise of a terminal disease to manipulate the narrator, who begins failing to discern between truth and lie, and whose own savior complex drives him to the brink of a mental collapse.

A chimera is a mythical monstrous figure, commonly a hybrid of three animals (lion's head, goat's body and serpent's tail); it can also be an organism composed of cells with diverse genetic constitution or, still, an illusion, a dream, an idea, or an unattainable hope. Let's focus on the third definition and on that idea or, perhaps, dream of one day ceasing to try to escape from a reality covered in manipulation and social discomfort where no matter how many years we walk, it always seems like we're not making progress.
"Chimæra" features collaborations by Birds are Indie, Bill Rivers, and Rute Fevereiro. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered at The Pentagon Audio Manufacturers, produced by Fernando Matias and the band itself, and was released on April 24, 2024, in a joint edition by Ragingplanet and Chaosphere Recordings.

[ENG] “Chimæra” is Waste Disposal Machine’s third album and “Dumb Persistence” is its promotional video-single.
A chimera is a mythical monstrous figure, commonly a hybrid of three animals (lion's head, goat's body and serpent's tail); it can also be an organism composed of cells with diverse genetic constitution or, still, an illusion, a dream, an idea, or an unattainable hope. Let's focus on the third definition and on that idea or, perhaps, dream of one day ceasing to try to escape from a reality covered in manipulation and social discomfort where no matter how many years we walk, it always seems like we're not making progress.
"Chimæra" features collaborations by Birds are Indie, Bill Rivers, and Rute Fevereiro. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered at The Pentagon Audio Manufacturers, produced by Fernando Matias and the band itself, and will be released on April 24, 2024, in a joint edition by Ragingplanet and Chaosphere Recordings.

Uma quimera pode ser uma figura monstruosa mítica, vulgarmente híbrida de três animais (cabeça de leão, corpo de cabra e cauda de serpente); pode ser, também, um organismo composto por células de constituição genética diversa ou, ainda, uma ilusão, um sonho, uma ideia ou esperança irrealizável. Foquemo-nos na terceira definição e naquela ideia ou, talvez, sonho de um dia deixarmos de tentar escapar a uma realidade coberta de manipulação e de desconforto social onde por muitos anos que andemos, parece sempre que não avançamos.
“Chimæra” conta com as participações de Birds are Indie, Bill Rivers e Rute Fevereiro. Foi gravado, misturado e masterizado no The Pentagon Audio Manufacturers, com produção de Fernando Matias e da própria banda e será lançado a 24 de Abril de 2024, numa edição conjunta da Ragingplanet e da Chaosphere Recordings.
